Wow we were blessed again with a balmy afternoon at the orchard. Whilst we should have been huddled around the bonfire with our multitude of cakes and savouries, wisps of train breath escaping into the cool air – we were working in the sun, grafting in T-shirts attending to those last few jobs of the year before our little Bonfire night party.
The sun was out, we all got busy and we made a few new friends too. Our incumbent Holly Mount triumvirate regaled us with some newly composed (and insightful) pieces. Tupperware was opened, revealing a range of delights for all. The press went to work, the fire blazed, and from the embers sparklers were lit, despite the darkness yet to descend the kids had a blast. Once exhausted, marshmallows and even some apples were toasted as the light escaped and the embers dwindled. This is how IER makes you feel, included and rewarded, but also a little lucky to have the opportunity.
As always we left in high spirits, enchanted by the orchard and friends, feeling a little warmer inside. We have one more weekend at the orchard before the festive period brings the year to an end, and then a new year and new challenges. Thank you to everyone for 2011, 2012 may just get even better.
